FAQ & Troubleshooting
Signing in
I can't sign in — my email or password is rejected.
Check the email spelling first (it must be exactly the address the school registered). Then use Forgot Password? on the login screen to receive a reset link by email. The link expires after 1 hour; if it has expired or says "Invalid Link", simply request a new one.
The app keeps asking me to change my password.
Accounts created by school import must set their own password on first login. Choose a password different from the temporary one and make sure you are online — the change cannot be saved while offline.
I never received my invitation, or the link says it was already used.
Ask the school administration to re-share your invitation (they can send it by WhatsApp or email). If the link was already used, your account exists — go to the login screen and use Forgot Password? if needed.
I forgot my PIN.
On the PIN screen tap Forgot your PIN? → Logout & reset. Sign in again with your email and password, then set a new PIN in your profile's Security section. After too many wrong attempts the PIN screen locks for a few minutes — just wait and retry.
Offline & connectivity
What does the "You're offline" banner mean?
Your device has no internet connection. Qismi keeps showing previously loaded content (like the cached timetable), but sending messages, saving attendance, reporting absences, submitting forms, and AI features need a connection. When you're back online the app refreshes automatically.
I see a full-screen "Maintenance in progress" message.
The platform is being updated. No action is needed — wait a few minutes and tap Check again.
The app says a new version is available.
Update from the App Store / Play Store (or tap Reload on the web). If the message says Update Required, your version is no longer supported and you must update to continue.
Notifications
I'm not receiving notifications.
Open your Profile → Notifications and check that push notifications are Enabled. If the in-app banner "Notifications disabled" appears, tap Enable and accept the system permission. Also verify that notifications for Qismi are allowed in your phone's system settings and that battery-saver mode isn't restricting the app.
The notification bell shows badges — what are they?
They count items awaiting your attention (unread messages, new announcements, pending forms…). Tap an item to open it, or Mark all as read to clear the badges.
Language & display
I switched to Arabic but the layout didn't flip.
Arabic uses a right-to-left layout, which requires an app restart on mobile. Close the app completely and reopen it — Qismi shows a "Restart Required" message to remind you.
Can I use Qismi in Tamazight or Spanish?
Yes. Qismi supports English, French, Arabic, Tamazight (Tifinagh script), and Spanish. Change the language any time from the switcher in your profile — your choice is saved automatically.
Accounts & data
(Parent) One of my children is missing from my account.
Children are linked to parent accounts by the school. Contact the administration and ask them to link the missing child — the profile section shows "No children linked. Contact admin." when nothing is linked yet.
(Parent) I can't send a message to a teacher.
Direct parent-to-teacher messaging is a school policy and may be turned off. You can always message the administration instead.
(Teacher) I can't edit grades I already entered.
Grades submitted for approval are locked until an administrator reviews them. If the submission is rejected you'll see the admin's feedback and can edit and resubmit. Also note grades can only be entered for the current grading period.
(Teacher) It won't let me save attendance for yesterday.
By design, attendance can only be submitted for today; past days are view-only. Contact the administration if a past record must be corrected.
An AI feature says the limit is reached.
Each school has a daily and monthly AI allowance depending on its subscription. Personal daily quotas reset the next day; if the school's monthly limit is reached, the administration can contact Qismi about the plan.
A file upload fails with "Storage limit reached".
The school's storage allowance is full. Notify your administration — they can free space or contact Qismi to extend the plan.
Who do I contact for help?
Start with your school administration — they handle accounts, roles, links between parents and children, and module availability. The school's admin team escalates platform issues to Qismi support.
